CHICAGO (WLS) - Former President Bill Clinton’s ‘get out the vote’ rally for Democrats at a downtown Chicago hotel was the most unenthusiastic WLS veteran political reporter Bill Cameron has ever witnessed.
Clinton was an hour late for the Tuesday afternoon rally at the Palmer House and droned on for another hour, sending dozens of the few hundred Democrats in attendance for the exits.

“Well, all we’re really asking for is two more years, that’s a total of four, to get us out of the hole and get us into the future. That’s half as much time as you gave them to dig the hole. Seems fair to us,” Clinton said.

The state's most popular Democrat Lisa Madigan was conspicuously absent as were state party chairman Mike Madigan and Mayor Richard Daley.

The Republicans said the Clinton visit put the Democrats failed tax and spend policies on display again.

Clinton was in Chicago Tuesday to rally Illinois Democrats behind Pat Quinn for governor and Alexi Giannoulias for President Barack Obama's old U.S. Senate seat. Both candidates are trailing in their races.

Nobody but nobody, it seems, feels lukewarm about Palin.

That her ideas possess currency is undeniable. In fact, just now there is a burst of energy behind her ideas. Which is interesting, because her ideas are rather plain; in fact, they are wholly lacking in anything remarkable at all. They are deficient in the irony people usually crave. These are quaint, bland, “up is up and down is down” ideas. If she were to announce a run for the Presidency, it would probably be along these lines:

1. The Government should fear the citizens, not the other way around.

2. If you want the economy to be stronger, do not fight the people who produce our nation’s wealth. Help them.

3. If your plan will not get us the results we need, with all due respect I could care less how smart you are.

4. If we have seen this scheme put into action before, and have yet to see it succeed; then let us shelve it until someone makes it work.

5. Make it inexpensive to put people on a payroll, or to keep them on it. Then, maybe businesses will make cuts somewhere else during the lean times…and perhaps hire some more. We are not beating this any other way.

6. Every move we make on foreign policy should send a signal to our allies that they made the right choice defending us; or, to our enemies that they made the wrong choice and need to reverse course. Those who are undecided about us, but watching, should be motivated in a powerful way to decide in our favor.

7. Anyone who does something you might not be ready, willing or able to do yourself – regardless of what they pull down for an hour on the job before overtime – is deserving of your respect.

These are dangerous ideas. Because they just might do what they're supposed to do... and fix more problems than they create.

This is a dangerous woman. She is committed to ideas like these. Come what may, you will not see her supporting their opposites. And she can fill up a stadium, bookstore or rental hall without paying people to be there. It's a bad, bad combination... depending, that is, on who you are and what you're trying to do.

Really? Over 80 people, which includes my husband, and I am sure plenty more across the nation joined the ranks of the unemployed in America just last month. That doesn't feel like recovery to me.

We need to try something new and get all the politicians out of their seats as we can. Rossi is somewhat of a politician, so he doesn't fill my ideal of filling the seat with an "every day citizen." I, however, feel that he is a step in the right direction and we absolutely NEED to get Murray out of there. So, for this election, Rossi has my vote! I hope he keeps putting out ads like the one above and keeps getting stronger in his campaign.

RETAILERS shy from public questions, "and no one more than me," says George Bartell. "But it's not my paycheck I'm talking about," says the Seattle retailer. "It's the survival of the business."

He's talking about Bartell Drug Co., which has 59 stores and 1,700 employees in Washington, and about Initiative 1098, which would create a personal income tax in Washington.

The initiative would be a backdoor business tax on S corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. These are taxed at the shareholder level. Bartell Drug is an S corporation. George and other Bartell family members pay the company's taxes on their Form 1040s — even on money the company keeps for opening and remodeling stores. There is a rough fairness in the system: The top rate Bartell pays on his 1040 is 35 percent, the same rate the national drug chains — all "C" corporations — pay on their federal corporate tax.

Now comes Initiative 1098. Its extra 9 percent individual rate nails S corporations, LLCs and partnerships — but not C corporations.

Probably it wasn't the sponsors' intention to favor one group of companies over another. But they are activists. They are not sympathetic to business and don't understand it very well. I-1098 is the result.

And so George Bartell worries. He does not fit the image of a fat cat. He does not have a fancy office in some Bartell skyscraper. He works in a two-story building in the Duwamish industrial district on the edge of a railroad yard.

"We put our money in the stores," he says. It is what a good retailer does. But it is more difficult to do that if you pay a 9 percent tax that your major competitors don't.

Bartell likens it to running a marathon in which the hometown boy has to wear lead shoes.

"It threatens our long-term viability," he says. It could even force the family to sell the century-old chain — the largest independent drug chain here — to an out-of-state buyer, though Bartell says he doesn't want to think about it.

Why not convert Bartell Drug to a C corporation? "We've asked our accountants," he says. "They say that is not an option because of the costs of doing it."

And so George Bartell joins the fight against I-1098. "I'd rather be working on other parts of the business," he says. "But this would have a huge impact on us. It may be the most serious threat we've ever faced."

Here is a video of our wonderful representative, Jay Inslee! OH! Did I say "representative?" We can say from personal experience that he doesn't represent our household nor was he of help to us when we contacted him as a neighborhood about an issue several years back. We, the neighborhood, resolved the issue on our own no thanks to Inslee and then received a letter from Inslee letting us know that he was glad he was able to resolve our problem! I hope Washingtonians are waking up enough to not give him Gregoire seat as Governor. She may be leaving sooner than expected as it looks like Obama has plans for her, so we may have a special election for our Governor seat.

In doing a search, there is website after website addressing this issue… amazing!

Is this the Europe Americans are striving to emulate? At one point I heard we were trying to emulate their medical system, so why not their education system? Is this what we can expect next in our school system? Years ago Ken Ham predicted homosexuality would be taught in schools, no one believed him. Of course, we are currently seeing it throughout the country being taught as something everyone should try. According to Mr. Ham, it’s the natural process after teaching homosexuality to teach bestiality to children.

A friend was telling me that “Family Man” did an episode making light of an act of bestiality with a dog. I have never watched that show, never intend to… but this puts even a new light on anyone who would call that show entertainment. Disgusting.

My husband told me he heard on the news that a ring was just busted locally that promoted the act. I am sure it is all around us much more than we are aware.

People need to be aware of this and be watching out for it, especially people whose children are enrolled in the government run schools. Our gov’t seems to desire to follow the European ways as much as possible.

My heart breaks.

Today we attended the local Tax Day Tea Party. Amongst the speakers were people like you and I who decided to take the stand and run for office at all different levels. The message was good, it was encouraging... and a reminder that there is work to be done. We all need to volunteer and support anyone and everyone we can whether in our district or not. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the United States rushed in to help - with money, medicine, and manpower. To date, we've already given over $179 million in humanitarian aid... but Barack Obama has just ordered all U.S. installations to take down their American flags, lest we be seen as an "occupying army" rather than "international partners."

It is patently appalling that a president of the United States would consider our flag to be a symbol of militaristic takeovers and colonialism, especially when serving (to a greater degree than any other nation on Earth) a humanitarian purpose.

We have it on pretty good authority (the horse's mouth...or should I say the other end of the horse's mouth :-) ) that the leftist SEIU brigade plan on showing up at the larger Tea Parties across the nation with nazi uniforms and misspelled signs to make the tea partiers look bad. In fact one of the leftist websites essentially says so on its blog. Here is what we need to do to counter this:

1. We need to have people flood local papers with letters to the editor beforehand indicating that
(1) Tea Parties oppose ALL socialists including National Socialists (Nazis)
(2) The people attending these rallies in Nazi uniforms with misspelled signs are radical leftists trying to make the Tea Parties look like inept racists. Nothing could be farther from the truth as Tea Party people are NORMAL highly educated Americans (who have ACTUALLY read the Constitution)

2. We need to have announcements at the platform of all the Tea Parties denouncing these people (collective boos from the crowd would be nice too), conveying the message in #1, and exposing them PUBLICLY for what they are to pre-empt their attempts to paint us in a bad light.

3. I recommend people take signs which say "SEIU ---->" "Or Look at the Leftists in Nazi Uniforms--->" and have people stand by the nutjobs. If we make sure such signs are always surrounding them, then we make it much harder for photographers to take pictures out of context is one of our SEIU signs is always in the picture.

The propaganda war is on . . . it is time to head any potential troubles off at the pass.

Today A Marine Vet's Veiw on America posted this video of February 19 speech by Allen West. He has my vote for President. I know... first things first... let's get him his Congressional seat this year though!

I get the wonderful opportunity to sit in my daughter's homeschool co-op class taught by Kirby Wilbur who gave a great talk on the history of Islam. If you think you know about them, I encourage you to look deeper into how they think, you may develop a deeper concern for what is going on in this country. The Health Care Amendments Have Begun...

Yesterday Senate voted on Amendment S.Amdt 3556 to the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 H.R. 4872 that would prohibit federal funding for Viagra for child molesters and rapists. Sound good right? Well, they voted YEA to TABLE the amendment!!!! This is just one of the many things that our government is trying to push on us through the health care bill. Why are child molesters and rapists even allowed to get Viagra??? That's a rabbit trail I may go on another time, so back to the "tabled" amendment.

They want to avoid amending the bill because it would mean that the House would have to pass the amended version again. In that message, he denigrated biblical books, including Leviticus and Deuteronomy, ridiculed the issue of the Bible's inerrancy, called the Sermon on the Mount a radically inapplicable passage of Scripture, and declared that basing public policies upon the Bible "would be a dangerous thing." He arrogantly concluded that "folks haven't been reading their Bible," setting himself above not only most others' understanding of Scripture but also all of us who read it. In olden days, such sacred contempt would have been regarded as an abominable desecration -- a man standing in the house of God claiming to be like a god, above others and even Scripture itself.

That is just a exert from the article Chuck wrote called Obama's Oscar. He also commented on January's State of the Union address. I only started to watch these addresses in recent years, so I don't know what is normal over the generations... but it sure didn't sound as eloquent as Lincoln's Address, the man he appeared to be trying to emanate just after he was elected. It definitely didn't come across as "Presidential" to either my husband or I. We, too, noticed the reaction of the military judicial leaders and all the jabs our President made while telling us that we need to get along. I am glad many are seeing him in a different light these days, yet there are many who still seem to have rose colored glasses on. Chuck Norris makes some great points in his article... Reid's Wife and Daughter in Serious Accident

Poltico Article - Harry Reid's wife, Landra, suffered a broken neck, back and nose and his daughter, Lana, also sustained serious injuries in a chain-reaction car accident in Fairfax, Va. on Thursday according to Reid's spokesman.

Both women's injuries are considered serious but not life-threatening -- and both have sensation in their extremities, an indication that they aren't paralyzed, Reid spokesman Jon Summers said.

Reid's wife is listed in serious condition and will stay in the hospital, but his daughter will be released. The initial prognosis for Reid's wife is that no surgery will be required, Summer said. .

“They are being treated at a Washington-area hospital. While driving on a Washington, DC, highway, their vehicle was rear-ended by a semi-truck," Summers wrote in an email.

"Mrs. Reid has a broken nose, broken back and broken neck. Lana has a neck injury and facial lacerations. Both Mrs. Reid and Lana are conscious, can feel their extremities, and according to doctors their injuries are non-life threatening. Senator Reid has been to the hospital and appreciates the support he and his family are receiving from Nevadans and his colleagues in the Senate."

Reid was pulled out of a meeting and was rushed to the hospital to visit them but was expected to return to the Senate this evening, aides said.

The majority leader, 70, met Landra, 69, when both attended high school in Henderson, Nev. They were married in 1959.

I don't agree with Reid politically, sometimes I feel great frustration towards him and what he is doing. Tonight my heart goes out to him. Their family has a long road of healing ahead and they need all the prayers that people are willing to offer. The Bible tells us that God can take what is meant for evil and use it for His good. My prayer is that God's name will be glorified in the end through this terrible event.

I have read that there are conservative blogs out there that are responding to this tragedy with venomous comments. I have seen several that are sending out a word of prayer for the family. My hope is that the majority of conservatives will respond with a merciful heart towards this family, and extend grace toward the Reid family even though we don't agree with his policy. My hope is that as a group of people, we don't emanate the ugliness that we have seen from the liberal side. The Bible tells us to love our enemies, and we now are given the opportunity to practice that. May God give Harry Reid the strength he will need to help his wife and daughter through this journey.

Whenever I speak about my experiences living in the USSR, my American friends respond that such things can never happen in a democracy like the United States.

They don't understand why I am repulsed when I hear the president talk about "sacrificing for the collective good," which sounds so compassionate, as opposed to greedy capitalism.

"Sacrifice for the collective good" is one of the founding principles of socialism, where the collective, not the individual, is the basis of society.

Revolutionaries in Russia did not go around boasting about destruction; they made inspiring speeches about fairness, equality, justice and the greater good. After securing power and their own access to material goods, government officials decided what to give and take from the masses, according to their definition of what is good.

When party leaders talk about the "collective good," what they are really talking about is their right to determine what is good for the collective. Government bureaucrats decide what level of sacrifice is needed and who needs to sacrifice. They replace voluntary charity with the forceful redistribution of other people's private property.

Why do people born into a free society accept a failed 100-year-old ideology? It seems Americans are simply unaware of modern history. They don't know the theory behind slogans such as "fairness and equality" and "sacrifice for the collective good," much less how it works when implemented. They buy into old utopian slogans masquerading as new progressive ideals for "Hope and Change."

In the USA, people move up and down the economic ladder all the time. In Western Europe, a milder form of a socialist-democratic political system resulted in higher unemployment, less innovation and less social mobility compared with the U.S. European youth face a continuing decline in their standard of living, as they are burdened with an unsustainable welfare state.

In the USSR, China, North Korea and Cuba, a much harsher form of socialism led to mass murder and mass misery under the banner of "sacrificing for the collective good," "fairness and equality" and service to the state.

The USSR provides numerous examples of what an oppressive centralized government can lead to:
Millions of talented artists, writers and scientists were sent to prison because they did not conform to government standards. Government control of agriculture led to constant shortages of food in one of the largest and most resource-rich lands in the world.

The Difference Between California and Texas

Post WWII California was the promised land, the Golden state, with it’s pleasant weather, expansion of universities, freeways, and water system. Texas on the other hand was overlooked by experts with it’s low-tax, low-services government.

Today Texas still has low-taxes – and no state income tax – and has maintained a small government with legislature only meeting for 90 days every two years. Its fiscal condition is sound and public employee unions are weak or nonexistent.

California on the other hand, has gone in for big government with year-round legislature, with Democratic majorities obediently doing the bidding of public employee union to the extent that the state government faces huge budget deficits. In 2005 when public employee unions poured $100 million of taxpayer money in to advertising, Gov. Schwarzenegger’s attempt to reduce the power of the Democratic-union was defeated. California is widely known for its extremely high taxes and troubled government.

With it’s low tax and small government, Texas appears to be delivering superior services. Teachers are paid less than in California, but scores in similar demographical areas are higher than California’s. Have you driven in California in the past few years? Their freeways are is terrible shape, crumbling and crowed. Texas has built new gleaming freeways. While California’s economy is greatly suffering, Texas’ economy is booming, with unemployment rates below the national average for more than a decade, as companies of all sizes (not government) create new jobs.

It appears that people have been voting with their feet. From 2000 - 2009 some 848,000 people moved from other parts of the U.S. to Texas, about the same number as moved in from abroad. In 2008-09, 143,000 Americans moved into Texas, more than double the number in any other state. Texas is on the way to gain four additional House seats and electoral votes in the 2010 reapportionment!!!

Californians, on the other hand, have left the state in large numbers numbers. For the first time in history it appears that California will gain no House seats or electoral votes from the reapportionment following the 2010 census.

Mocking Special Needs People?

I did not see the Fox cartoon show that mocked Trig Palin, nor do I want to see it. I do believe that this would not be tolerated, except for the fact that it's directed at a conservative, and the Palin family seems to be considered "fair game" in the opinion of the "entertainment" community. I find that be a bit hypocritical in that they tolerate nothing when a conservative says something dumb... what these people are doing is down right unkind and evil!

Americans (in general) must not believe this stuff goes on, or people wouldn't be having fits over the U.S. water-boarding and playing Barney music to get terrorists to talk. I just watched Scott Brown meet with John McCain and then John Kerry. I also saw the clip of Obama's response to the MA election on Good Morning America. If they (Kerry and Obama) have any inclination of what Americans are thinking and are about, they are not exhibiting any evidence of such. They appeared clueless to me. Obama thinks everyone is still uptight over the "last 8 years" and doesn't get that the majority of us are frustrated with the whole government system. Will he ever stop riding on the blame game? Kerry was obviously very uncomfortable as he was very stiff, while Brown was very comfortable and relaxed in front the of media this morning. Maybe his subconscious "gets something"... but perhaps he just can't put his finger on what it is. He had the nerve to say that what has been going on with the health care bill has been ugly, but none the less the bill is a good bill. Excuse me!?!?!?!

There is something refreshing in watching Senator Elect Brown in Washington today, he is very comfortable with who he is and it reflects in every response to the media. I don't agree with each and everything that Brown believes in, but I do believe he will be good for America and "progressing" conservatism back into D.C. Or so I hope. I am encouraged to see what this year brings.

National Tea Party Convention

In conversations with conservatives of the past several months it seems like people are in a "buzz" about what will be. I've been in discussions about Sara Palin and the idea of a third party. I know there are many, like me, who are disappointed in the Republican party. For example I just turned on Mike Huckabee the other day, and he seems to be in denial about a few things, maybe just a misunderstanding on his part about what the true conservative thinks and feels. I have been having this feeling, maybe a hope, that we would see a third party rise up. A few of my conservative friends have shot that idea down... and of course, I don't have any idea what will happen, but we either need a third party or the conservatives need to completely overhaul the Republican party.

So, as you can tell, I have been taking a little break from the political scene. Have a lot going on with the kids and just needed a mental break for a little while. I tuned in here and there from time to time to keep my finger on the pulse, but that's about it. I am so appreciative of those who have not taken the break and have been hard at work. Which brings me to the Targeting the Tea Party article from Hot Air - just follow the links. There is apparently... already organized... a Tea Party Convention scheduled for February 4-6 in Nashville, TN and guess who's speaking? Yep, Sara Palin will be the key note speaker, although she isn't running for anything this Sept. I also saw on Hot Air that Sara has been hired by FOX as an analyst. Nope, she is not going away.

I was just listening to Dennis Miller interview Sue Lowden on my way home. She seems like a firecracker who is all about defeating Harry Reid. When Reid told her he was going to vaporize her... she said she told him to start with her thighs! She doesn't sound all that worried as the polls are showing her ahead of him at this point and she has not sent out flyers nor spent money on advertising. She is all about taking Nevada down from the 2nd highest unemployment rate in the country, when Reid has been doing everything to cause their current situation. She is opening an office in Reno in the few weeks and it sounds like she is just starting to get ramped up.

I have personally noticed that Obama’s claim to be Christian has been weak. The Bible tells us to be fruit inspectors, and he supports too many things that go against God’s word. Watching this video, with all his statements put together makes it very clear that America has not only elected her first black President, but also unknowingly, her first Islam President. God help our country. My oldest daughter has been studying how Islam began in her World History studies, and how interesting that has been. America need to have a better understanding of Islam… but then as our President says, America is the largest Islam nation on earth, so maybe America already has an understanding.

Suppose the mafia came to your town and forced everyone to purchase all their meals at mob-approved restaurants. The mafia would also select the menu items.

If you liked broccoli but their vegetable choice was spinach, then tough luck. Everyone would also have to purchase dessert, whether they wanted it or not. And if some customers couldn't afford the high-priced meals, the mafia would force you to "contribute" to cover their bills.

Most Americans would be outraged at such violations of their basic rights. But this is precisely what the president and Congress want to do with health insurance.

The recently passed Pelosi plan is essentially a national version of the failing Massachusetts system of mandatory health insurance -- a plan that has led to skyrocketing costs and worsening health care.

Under any system of mandatory insurance, the government must necessarily determine what constitutes an "acceptable" plan. Hence, this creates a magnet for special interests seeking to include their pet benefits on the required insurance menu.

Massachusetts residents must purchase numerous benefits that they may neither need nor want, such as in vitro fertilization, drug abuse therapy and chiropractor services. If you'd rather purchase low-cost catastrophic-only insurance without those options, tough luck. Mandatory insurance thus violates the individual's right to spend his own money for his benefit according to his best judgment.

Since the plan's inception in 2006, insurance premiums in Massachusetts have risen by 8 percent to 10 percent each year, nearly twice the national average. Because the mandatory insurance is so expensive, the state must also subsidize the costs for low-income residents. In response, the state has raised taxes and cut payments to doctors and hospitals.

Many frustrated doctors now lose money on each state Medicaid patient. The Massachusetts Medical Society reports that 40 percent of family practice doctors and 56 percent of internal medicine physicians no longer accept new patients -- "the highest percentages of primary care practices closed to new patients ... ever recorded."

Similarly, average waiting times in Boston to see a specialist have increased to seven weeks, whereas in other states it has fallen to three weeks. Massachusetts patients may have theoretical "coverage," but that's not the same as actual medical care.

To add insult to injury, the president has called the Congress' plan a "moral imperative" that will promote "choice and competition."

If Obama truly wanted to promote choice and competition, he would propose fewer government controls -- not more. State governments should eliminate mandatory benefits.

Insurers should be allowed to offer low-cost catastrophic plans and to sell policies across state lines. Individuals should be allowed to use Health Savings Accounts for routine expenses. Such free-market reforms would greatly lower insurance costs for millions of Americans.

Free-market reforms would also be a political winner. According to CNN, eight of every 10 Americans are happy with their current health care, but concerned about rising costs. Polls also show a majority of Americans opposed to Congress' plan. Free-market reforms that lowered costs while respecting individual rights would be smart politics.

Where would meals be better and cheaper? A city where customers could choose between restaurants competing in a free market? Or a city where everyone was forced to buy all their meals at a few mafia-controlled restaurants?

Like the mafia, Congress wants to make you an offer you can't refuse. At least the mafia doesn't pretend that it's acting for your own good.

Sarah Palin made the below post this morning on Face Book. "They" won't seem to let up on her, but of course we know that's because they fear her. I am thankful that she is a fighter and is willing to fight the good fight.

The book tour starts this week, and I look forward to it! I'm most looking forward to meeting many of you, shaking your hands, and telling you,"Thanks for loving America." I'll give you a scoop here and tell you what's on the book's Dedication Page – it's dedicated to you – Patriots – who love the U.S.A. as much as I do.

Amazingly, but not surprisingly, the AP somehow nabbed a copy of the book before it was released. They're now erroneously reporting on the book's contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We've heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, "fact checking" research! Imagine that – 11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to "fact check" what's going on with Sheik Mohammed's trial, Pelosi's health care takeover costs, Hasan's associations, etc. Amazing.

We'll keep setting the record straight, and we'll keep reminding some in the media that Americans are very tired of their non-objective reporting. A great, recent post that accomplishes this is a Conservatives4Palin post. It's got some nice fact checking included. As always, they did a great job holding some of the media accountable for spreading more misinformation and for making things up. You can read it here. Enjoy!

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas this week, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, there was notice that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

What I see is a lack of American spirit and emotiona and deep heart felt concern over this travesty that has happened. What do you see in his response?

On the other hand it's encouraging to listen to talk radio and hear people calling in who are waking up and all because Obama was elected. His election was a blessing in disguise... now I hope too much irreversable damage isn't done before the "Sleeping Giant" (quote from the gal speaking to Arlen Specter in Aug.) can turn things around.

Did I say "many of our Senators won't even talk to the public?" Oops! Wrong! They want to and are willing to talk to the public of their choice. I read Going Stealth in Longview: Real Astro-Turf Revealed and discovered that Cantwell, Murray and Baird are having a "stealth town hall meeting TOMORROW!" Sneaky devils! And they wonder why we say we can't trust them. I am sure they aren't the exception, but the norm across the country. Cowards.

Aug. 13 Update:

According to Daily News Online, the Congressional Mount St. Helens Advisory Committee had planned to give its final report to Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray as well as Congressman Brian Baird today during a public meeting at the Cowlitz County Expo Center. However, an e-mail sent by Organizing for America, the group that led President Obama’s campaign last year and now promotes his agenda, misconstrued the meeting’s agenda, which led to the article I posted above. It looks like the meeting has been cancelled to avoid a situation.

I heard on the radio this morning that Rep. Baird has apologized to the public for his comments against those who disagree with the bill that have been going to Town Hall Meetings and is now talking about setting up one himself after saying he wouldn't. Now to see if any other Reps. come out of hiding.

This man said what so many of us are thinking, good for him!!! Many of our Senators won't even talk to the public this month which sends a message loud on clear. As the lady at the town hall meeting said (mentioned in the article), a sleeping giant has awoken. We are in interesting times and I am mixed with concern and anticipation as I watch each day unfold.

I started hearing abut Mark Levin when his new book Liberty and Tyranny came out. As it turns out I had heard him a few times on talk radio, but it took awhile to connect who he was. My first impressions of him was that he is very passionate about what he believes and I couldn't help but belt out a "Yeah!" or a "Speak it, brother!" after he got done with his rant! Of course, I have bought his book and am reading it.

When I was going through my blog roll this morning I couldn't help but share this video that I saw on Coffee Milk Conservative. It's mind boggling to watch the spin that our government and media is putting on the towns hall meetings that are going on across our nation. Wednesday we will be going to a local town hall meeting.

H.J.RES.5 to End the 22nd Amendment?

On January 6, 2008, for what appears to be the 7th time, NY Congressman Jose Serrano introduced legislation the House of Representatives to Repeal the 22nd Amendment, hoping to remove the 2 year term limits of the U.S. Presidential position. H.J. RES 5 is one piece of Legislation I assume our reps would have to read... it's one line long.

An online movement called End22.com has been established and is promoting keeping Obama in for a 3rd term. According to Govtrack.us this bill is just in the beginning steps of the legislative process. It has been referred to a committee that will deliberate, investigate, and revise before going to general debate. Since the majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee it is hopeful that this will go no further. For it to go further three-fourths of the states must rafity the proposal. Probably something to keep an eye on, in case they get enough public interest in contacting representatives.

I just listened to someone on MSNBC say that age discrimination in relation to the health bill is a made up scare tactic of the Republicans. Excuse me! The quotes of Obama's advisers, such as Rahm Emanual and Ezekial Manual, as referred to by Rep. Bachman are pretty clear that the liberal lefts are either blind or "in on" sticking it to us - probably a little of both.

I was on the road somewhere listening to David Boze talk to his guest Dr. Matt Manweller who was talking about his book "The Right Opinion: A Heretic's Voice from the Ivory Tower" I looked him up on the Internet and thought the below article that he wrote sums up where we are today perfectly.

Nowhere left to run?

I want to look at the big picture today. We spend so much time analyzing whether we approve or disapprove of this law or that law. This tax or that tax that sometimes, we lose sight of the large political “forest for the trees.” The debates about ObamaCare and the nationalization of the auto industry can wait for another day. Today, we look at the long arc of history.

The history of human civilization has been a battle between those who wish to live their lives independent of other men and those who wish to live their lives on the backs of other men. On one side we have people who are willing to take risks and accept the responsibility of failure if in return they get to accept the rewards of success. On the opposing side, we have people who base most of their decisions out of fear. What if I fail? What if I don’t have enough money? What if I can’t provide. These men seek safety in the labor of other men. They seek prosperity in the assets of what others have created. In the name of “community” or “sharing” they use governments to take what they want from other men.

The battle between these two world views have ebbed and flowed for centuries. In general, time has been on the side of men who seek to take wealth rather than create wealth. They have learned over and over again that all you need is the support of 51% of your fellow citizens and you can take whatever you want from the other 49%. This is an appealing argument. Why work when you can vote to make other people give you their money? Why pay for heath care when you can vote to make the government give you health care? Because it has always been easier to vote than work, the people who hold this world view have enjoyed great success.

But, their success has never been complete. Because the other side…those men who seek to live life on their own terms, take risks, create, build something out of nothing…have always had one “ace in the hole.” The EXIT OPTION. They could leave. They could move. And so part of this long arc of history has been brave men choosing to live among other brave men rather than men who did not have the courage to face the world God created. And so as long as we have seen the creation of “collectivist” societies, we have seen the exodus of stronger people. Show me communism and I’ll show you people jumping over a wall. Show me socialism and I’ll show you entrepreneurs escaping to America, Singapore, Hong Kong.

Those men and women who have always been more attracted to freedom than security, to opportunity than tranquility, to the idea of making something rather than taking something. They have been called Pilgrims, Pioneers, and dare I say it…Conservatives.

It was the people who didn’t ask for or expect anyone else’s help that got into boats and landed at Plymouth Rock. But their victory was short lived. Societies develop. People without the courage to live their own lives eventually become a majority. Collectivism returns. So the next generation leaves. Men of vision and strength flee West. They go to live where other men won’t tell them how to live and won’t take what they create. But that victory is short-lived as well. Their children are seduced by the ease of collectivism. And the men and women of independence are overwhelmed again.

It is this story that highlights why the battle we are facing right now is so important. We are confronting the forces of collectivism again, just as past generations have. But this time, there is no where left to flee. Where are we supposed to go? Alaska and Idaho don’t have room for us all. Without an “exit option” we have to stand and fight.

Our situation today reminds me of when Ronald Regan met a recently arrived refugee from Cuba. The Cuban refugee got a chance to tell Regan personal stories of oppression, tyranny and loss. Reagan shook his head and said Americans don't know how lucky we are. The refugee says "Lucky? Mr President, I had somewhere to run to. Where would you go?"

Health Care Reform - Public Option Not a Trojan Horse for Single Payer System?

Here's video of Obama himself saying that it will take a process to get to "single payer health care" along with other politicians stating basically the same. So, for him to be saying to the American Medical Association that a public option is not a Trojan horse for a single player system is just more evidence that he's a bit of a lier. He is a true American hero with a strong spirit. I am equally impressed with his desire to continue his education and continue to move forward in his life.

Five Simple Arguments Against Government Healthcare

I have been engaged in a handful of conversations about the Health Care Reform on Facebook over the past several days. It seems that people are firmly against it, firmly for it or seem to want to ignore it. There seems to be a sense of people wanting something for nothing, wanting the government to take care of them at all costs.

I fail to see how so many can blindly trust our government. This morning I watched a news clip showing that money from the Stimulus Bill that was signed earlier in the year is going to Pelosi’s district in CA for Theatre Arts – live hard core violent porn that includes animals. But good ole Joe Biden was suppose to oversee that ALL the money was going to the right places… I guess he deems that a good way to save jobs. Why people think the government can make better decisions with their money, education and health BOGGLES my mind. All I can come up with is we (as a society) have been groomed well by our government, starting with the schools and after that with the main stream media.

I came across the below article this morning, and it is saying what I have been sharing on FB.

Five Simple Arguments Against Government Healthcare

The argument from federalism: One of the great benefits of federalism is that the states can act as the laboratories of democracy. If a new public policy is tried in the states and works (as happened with welfare reform in Michigan and Wisconsin), then a similar program has a good chance of succeeding at the national level. The welfare reform went national and proved to be one of the most successful public policy initiatives of the last half century. On the other hand, major governmental healthcare initiatives have been tried in Tennessee and Massachusetts. Neither of those have panned out. That should be a cautionary sign to avoid rushing ahead to just get a bill done!

The argument from misery: I cannot think of any encounter with my government that I willingly seek out. I hate going to the DMV. I hate going to the post office. I hate getting my car inspected. I hate getting a passport renewed. All of these things eat up productive time in my day and are filled with useless, inefficient waiting. This basic situation also applies to people who rely on the government for their healthcare. When my wife did indigent care in Houston, her clients did not pay for her services. They paid with their time. LOTS OF WAITING. I don’t need more waiting in my life. And because government employees are typically unionized, I don’t need to be at the mercy of a bunch of unionized employees any more than I already am.
The argument from incentivization: If the government provides the care too cheaply, then there will be a glut of clients who overwhelm the system and create the nightmare of waiting as the price to pay. If the government offers the care too expensively, people will opt out which is exactly what they wanted to avoid. If the government tries to control utilization by deciding what services you can and can’t have, then you are up against a far worse foe than the worst HMO you ever faced. And the government will go where the insurance companies fear to tread. They will decide who should live or die.

The argument from missing the verdammten point: It is exceedingly clear that a huge reason for the skyrocketing costs of medicine is the problem of predatory litigation driven by lawyers looking for 30-40% of a bloody fortune from an industry thought to be able to afford it. Between the cost of malpractice insurance, the payouts, and the defensive medicine that must be practiced to ward off lawsuits, it is easy to see why healthcare is outrageously expensive. Yet, the president very clearly said he would not seek to deal with that problem in the legislation. WHAT? WHY? Because the trial lawyers are very good political donors? Not a compelling reason for the formation of a particular public policy.

The argument from economic theory: Look at two sectors of the healthcare market that are typically paid out of pocket without the influence of insurance providers or the government. I am thinking of plastic surgery and lasik procedures for improving eyesight. Both of those services are becoming less expensive in real dollars rather than skyrocketing out of control. This happens to be the portion of the healthcare industry where actual market conditions apply. Customers pay for and receive value at a price that is becoming more reasonable all the time.

HR 2287 - No Social Security for Illegal Immigrants Act of 2009

First of all, I don't understand why "illegal" immigrants are getting benefits in our country. It seems that in our country there is a big blurry line between legal and illegal in all areas of life, which I find very discouraging. None the less, illegal immigration is one of the most serious problems this country faces.

H.R. 2287 apparently offers a first step in addressing our immigration crisis. On May 6, 2009 Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) introduced the No Social Security for Illegal Immigrants Act of 2009. HR 2287 would prohibit wages earned while working illegally in this country from being credited towards Social Security benefits. According to gov.trac.us there are 31 Republican supporters of this bill

Congress.org offers a venue to contact your representative. It seems there are so many sites out there like that, then you are “a list.” I am getting a little overwhelmed with all the “lists” I am on and so have chosen to bookmark our representative’s web sites and to correspond directly with them through their venue.

As I searched further, I discovered that HR2287’s next step is to go in front of a House Committee of Ways and Means that consists of 41 state representatives. My congressman is not on that committee so I don’t see that it would be of value to contact him at this point. Do I contact the two representatives from our state that are listed in the committee even though they are not in my district? As you can tell I am new to this process.

Again I question how much our representatives truly can represent the people. When I saw the number of measures that this committee is “considering” it was overwhelming, there must be a few hundred listed there. There is no way they can give these bills individual attention, I suppose that’s what they have “people” for.

We’ll see how far this measure goes. This measure sounds like a nice idea, yet I would like to know how they intend to enforce this law if it goes through. To me, this measure going through then becoming law would mean that they think they can identify who the illegal immigrants are. If that’s the case then it points us back to the issue of why they aren’t cracking down on illegal immigration in the first place. I can’t help but feel that this is just more of our politicians doing “busy” work so they look like they are doing something, therefore keeping their jobs going. I guess I am not convinced that our politicians really want illegal immigration under control.

Memorial Day

Our family attended a Memorial Day Parade in our local area. We were blessed to meet a WW2 POW who spent 9 months in Stalag 17 and hear some of his story. It resignated with me that if my uncle would have survived he might be sharing similar stories. Thankfully I had 3 other uncles along with my dad that did return to their families.

I am so grateful to all the soldiers that served their country from the Revolutionary War up through today. May we keep their stories alive and share with our children the desire to work and fight for our freedoms.

DIVORCE AGREEMENT

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion.

That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and over sized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everyone health care if you can find any practicing doctors.

We'll continue to believe health care is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

WA Citizens Continue Fight Against Election by Popular Vote

Last week Washington state followed Maryland, New Jersey, Hawaii and Illinois when Governor Gregoire signed SB 5599 despite the public’s opposition to it. This bill approves the entry of Washington into the agreement among the states to elect the president by national popular vote.

This new law will not take effect until enough states sign on to account for 270 electoral votes, the number it takes to win the White House. Washington state has 11 electoral votes, Maryland has 10, New Jersey has 15, Hawaii has 4 and Illinois has 21. There are 4 more states in the process that I am aware of.

The morning after the bill was signed, David Anderson, a private citizen filed a referendum to repeal this new law. This referendum will need 120,577 signatures with a deadline of July 25, 2009.

HR 1388 – Known as the GIVE Act (Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education), "The Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, an Act to reauthorize and reform the national service laws," and the National Service Program will be effective Oct. 1, 2009.

There were discussions in various forums about this bill implementing the beginning of a Obama Youth Brigade, something that resembles the Hitler Youth Brigade. Following a bill is a new and confusing experience for me. I found a (fairly) complete copy of the bill that Senate passed. From what I can tell the final bill the President signed on April 21 isn’t online yet. I copied this (fairly) complete bill into Word, it’s a 86 page document. Are we to believe that each and every House Representative and Senator that voted on this actually read every page and gave it careful thought along with the many other bills, etc. they are dealing with? I just got a list of bills that either passed or are under consideration in our state and the list is LONG. I highly doubt they give much of anything personal careful attention, but that is another topic for another day.

I have spent that past 3 hours reading and highlighting this bill. On the surface, this bill “looks” to have a noble cause towards community service. It seems to be directed at implementing, operating, or expanding school-based service-learning programs for elementary, secondary (grades 6-9) and college education both public and private schooled. Homeschooled students are not mentioned, thankfully. There is a section where the intent is to also recruit court involved adults and youth to do community service. It seems to cover services related towards energy conservation, disaster preparedness, teaching health related issues, assisting US Veterans, mentoring economically disadvantaged, mentoring children in foster care.

The discussions on the forum brought me a great deal of concern, then I read an article written by HSLDA which relaxed my concerns. Today, on a forum, I was referred to the article titled The Obama Youth Brigade: Church Attendance Forbidden. I was going to pass this on to alert others, but felt compelled to research the bill myself first. After reading the bill thoroughly I am leaning towards believing that the article is misleading and meant to stir up fear. I am highly concerned when I read things that compare Obama to Hitler. While I do believe there are some seriously legitimate concerns in that direction, I would hope that Christian journalist would hold a tight standard to reporting the facts and not stirring up undue fear.

The article refers to SEC. 132A which describes prohibited activities and ineligible organizations. At first I was offended by this, but as I read and re-read the ENTIRE section I started to wonder where they came up with their perspective. What this section of the bill does is maintain “separation of church and state.” I don’t necessarily agree with “separation of church and state” as our government describes it, but understand that they are putting this in the bill under that premise. They are not saying that the kids performing the community services cannot go to church as the headline of this article indicates, it says the position may not be used to promote several activities including influencing legislation, religious activities, provide or refer abortion services, etc. At least they can’t promote abortion, that’s something to be thankful for. Section 8(D) correctly it says this “does not prevent participants from engaging in advocacy activities undertaken at their own initiative, if I understand that correctly it indicates that the program does not dictate what the participant does in their own time. Please read below.

‘SEC. 132A. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
‘(a) Prohibited Activities- An approved national service position under this subtitle may not be used for the following activities:
‘(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
‘(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
‘(3) Assisting, promoting, or deterring union organizing.
‘(4) Impairing existing contracts for services or collective bargaining agreements.
‘(5) Engaging in partisan political activities, or other activities designed to influence the outcome of an election to Federal office or the outcome of an election to a State or local public office.
‘(6) Participating in, or endorsing, events or activities that are likely to include advocacy for or against political parties, political platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation, or elected officials.
‘(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of proselytization, consistent with section 132.
‘(8) Consistent with section 132, providing a direct benefit to any--
‘(A) business organized for profit;
‘(B) labor union;
‘(C) partisan political organization;
‘(D) nonprofit organization that fails to comply with the restrictions contained in section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, except that nothing in this paragraph shall be construed to prevent participants from engaging in advocacy activities undertaken at their own initiative; and
‘(E) organization engaged in the religious activities described in paragraph (7), unless the position is not used to support those religious activities.
‘(9) Providing abortion services or referrals for receipt of such services.
‘(10) Conducting a voter registration drive or using Corporation funds to conduct a voter registration drive.
‘(11) Carrying out such other activities as the Corporation may prohibit.
‘(b) Ineligibility- No assistance provided under this subtitle may be provided to any organization that has violated a Federal criminal statute.
‘(c) Nondisplacement of Employed Workers or Other Volunteers- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not be directed to perform any services or duties, or to engage in any activities, prohibited under the nonduplication, nondisplacement, or nonsupplantation requirements relating to employees and volunteers in section 177

So, I don't feel quite as heavy hearted, but I still have concerns, of which I have outlined below.

1. More tax money will be needed to implement this at all levels. Enough on increasing needs to tax more!

2. Government is doing what it does best (beside over taxing and over spending) taking the “parent’ role.. In a self governing society it is natural to help those in our community, it is natural for the church to serve those in need. There have been so many articles explaining how our communities have changed and we no longer know our neighbours let alone serve them. I guess for the masses it’s so much easier to pay high taxes and let government help those in need. Just think of the blessings so many are missing out on by not personally helping those in need.

3. This bill is more of “removing” or shall I say “prohibiting” God from our children’s lives. The more the school is taking care of our children the less time they will have to think about or learn about God. The bill is implement summer service programs with scholarship type awards to those with the most service hours. More time for the government programs to infiltrate our children’s minds and keep them away from God.

4. This is such an easy way for our government to indoctrinate our children. We have already let them change the history books and indoctrinate our youth through public school. This bill just gives them more inlfuence over our youth.

I wonder how many Christian parents of public and private schooled children will see through this program, since it is geared towards them? This bill is adding to my long list of reasons why I homeschool. For now, homeschoolers are not mentioned in this bill. I am happy to know that the HSLDA is on top of all legislations that could affect homeschooler

If you followed the link to HSLDA's article you will note that now we need to turn our attention to HR 1444 as the "mandatory service" language has been moved over to that bill. That's on my list of things to be looking into... "We the People" need to stay alert!

912candidates.org is a great idea to help us vet potential candidates at all levels. This is a very good message on the importance of citizenship and the responsibility that comes with it. I know so many people who vote, but won't engage in a conversation, some of the saying they don't know that much about politics or don't keep up with politics. What a travesty. If they only understood how dangerous that is.

I have started to correspond with our representatives asking them if they stand for the 9 principles and 12 values, and if so if they will sign the contract. I encourage you all to do the same. Let's get some people out there that have some founding father substance to them, some people worthy of our vote.
